Terms of Use
Last updated 28 September 2026
This document is being finalised with our legal advisers and may change before DonkiCom's public launch. We'll tell you about any important changes.
These terms apply to everyone who uses DonkiCom to watch, follow, support or upload. By creating an account or using the site you agree to them. Filmmakers also agree to the Filmmaker Terms, and our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
1. What DonkiCom is
DonkiCom is a distribution platform for films and series made by emerging filmmakers, operated from South Africa. Browsing is open to everyone. Watching is free but needs a DonkiCom account.
2. Your account
- You must be 18 or older, or have a parent or guardian's permission if you are 13 to 17. DonkiCom isn't for children under 13.
- Give accurate details, keep your password private, and tell us through Support if you think someone else has used your account.
- One person per account. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
- You can delete your account at any time from your account page.
3. Watching
Films and series on DonkiCom are for your personal, non-commercial viewing. Don't download, copy, re-upload, screen-record, broadcast or sell them. The filmmakers own their work; you get a personal right to watch it on DonkiCom, and nothing more. Some titles have age ratings. Please respect them. When a title is picked up by another platform, we may send you there to keep watching; that platform's own terms then apply.
4. Supporting filmmakers
You can choose to support a filmmaker. Support is voluntary and isn't a purchase of the film or of any right in it.
Right now support is a pledge: no payment is taken and nothing is charged. When payments are switched on, we'll show you the amount, any fees and the payment terms before you pay. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.
5. Rules for everyone
Don't:
- try to inflate views, followers or scores, for example with bots, scripts, click farms or repeated fake sessions;
- harass, threaten or impersonate anyone, or post anything unlawful, hateful or sexually exploitative;
- try to get into accounts, admin areas or data that aren't yours, or interfere with how DonkiCom works;
- use DonkiCom to send spam or collect other people's information.
6. Reports, moderation and suspension
If a title breaks these rules or infringes your rights, use “Report this title” on its page. Our team reviews submissions and reports, and may ask a filmmaker for changes, reject a title or take it down. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms; a suspended account can still browse but can't watch or use Studio. If you think we got it wrong, contact us through Support.
7. Audience measurement
When you watch, DonkiCom records how the title is watched (for example how long you watched, your device type and your country) to give filmmakers an honest picture of their audience. Filmmakers see totals, not your personal details. See the Privacy Policy.
8. Availability and changes
We work to keep DonkiCom running well, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free or that any particular title will stay on the platform. We may change or stop features. If we change these terms in an important way, we'll tell you before the change applies.
9. Our responsibility
Titles are made by independent filmmakers, who are responsible for them. To the extent the law allows, DonkiCom isn't liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under South African law that can't be excluded.
10. Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. For any question or complaint, contact us through Support.
